Since we're playing our new in-town rival in Columbia this year, we've got a watch party planned so we can watch our Tigers take on Vanderbilt.

Sam's Sports Grill - Hillsboro Village

Sam's is now smoke-free, so it will be a great place for our watch party. We'll have a section of their enclosed patio reserved for our group.

Participate in the Mizzou Homecoming Blood Drive at Four Middle Tennessee Locations

As you know, Mizzou's annual homecoming blood drive is one of the largest in the country. Last year's blood drive was the largest in Mizzou's history as students and the community donated more than 5,000 units of blood! That's almost 15,000 lives touched by these donations.

You can help Mizzou make history with its blood drive again this year, but you don't have to go to Columbia to participate. There are four locations in Middle Tennessee area where you can donate blood for the Mizzou Homecoming blood drive - Nashville, Murfreesboro, Crossville and Paducah. Location information is below.

You must donate before October 12 to participate in the Homecoming blood drive.

The blood you donate will stay in Tennessee, but the credit will go to Mizzou's blood drive. To participate, here are a few pointers:

• Look for the Mizzou sign-in sheet when you donate. If you don't see it when you sign in, please ask for it so credit is given to the Mizzou blood drive.
• If you want to give points for the Homecoming competition, you can do so when you sign in. Each donor can give points to one student, one campus organization, one Greek organization and one residence hall.
• If you're unsure about your eligibility to donate, you can visit www.redcrossblood.org or call 1-800-RED CROSS (1-800-733-2767)

Yesterday, the Nashville Mizzou Alumni Chapter had a tent at the Southeastern Young Alumni (SEYA) Football Kickoff party benefitting Vanderbilt Children's Hospital. We were thrilled to be part of such a great event!

We had a number of Mizzou fans and alums stop by to say hello. And, it was great to see so many fans from other schools come by to welcome us to the SEC!

Mizzou vs. Vanderbilt game recap

We had a great time watching our Tigers play at Vanderbilt in December. Unfortunately, we did not come out with a win despite coming close at the very end. Before the game, we had a pre-game party at the Holiday Inn. We had more than 100 people join us for the pre-game party and game. We were thrilled with the turnout!

We are thrilled to report that we sold 120 tickets for the Mizzou vs. Vanderbilt basketball game! We are excited about this fantastic response and look forward to seeing you at the event next week.

As a reminder, here is the information about the event:

Pre-game Event - 6:00 - 8:00 p.m.

For those who are planning to attend the pre-game event, we wanted to make you aware of a few things:

• Food. Because of the overwhelming response, we've made some slight adjustments to the pre-game event at the Holiday Inn to better accommodate our group. Instead of offering a full menu, the Holiday Inn will provide heavy appetizers. Although there will not be a set cost for this, we would appreciate it if everyone would chip in a few dollars to help offset the cost of the food.

• Parking. There will be free parking at the Holiday Inn on a first come, first serve basis. When arriving at the hotel, please tell the parking attendant that you are with the Mizzou Alumni group. Please park in the lot behind the hotel. You will be able to leave your car at the hotel during the game.
  
  
• Game tickets. Everyone must come to the pre-game event to pick up your tickets.
  
  
• Giveaways. We will also have a drawing for some great giveaways, including a basketball autographed by Mike Anderson! The autographed ball will be a special "members-only" drawing for members of the Mizzou Alumni Association. If you're not an MAA member, you can sign up at the game for a chance to win this great keepsake!

Mizzou v. Nebraska watch party recap

We had a fantastic turnout at the Nebraska watch party last week! Nearly 50 people turned out for the event. It's just too bad our Tigers couldn't pull out a win. Here are some pictures from the event.

Mizzou Alumnus Comes to Nashville for Book Signing

Jan Kirsch, Mizzou alumnus and mother to Nashville Mizzou grad Daniel Kirsch, has written a memoir about her continuing battle with ovarian cancer. If you would be interested in talking with her about her experience, sharing your experience with this illness or a similar illness, or purchasing her book, please visit her at one of her book signings on Saturday, October 17. She will be at the West End Borders from 9:00-12:00 and the Cool Springs Borders from 3:00-5:00.

Her book, Winter Body, Summer Soul, is scheduled for review in the October issue of Missouri Life magazine. More information about the book and the author is also available here.

This book signing is not limited to Mizzou alums. If you know anyone else who might be interested in talking to her or reading her book, please forward this message to him or her.

Mizzou is 4-0 and will be taking on the Nebraska Cornhuskers on Thursday! To celebrate this big game, we are having a joint watch party with the Nebraska Alumni chapter. This should create a fun atmosphere for the game. Here are the details:
